"Best Picks" writing:
About 6 or 7 times each year I
spend several days in Los Angeles making my art gallery
and museum "rounds." I will usually go to about
100 galleries and a couple museums. My interest is
contemporary art. I write a condensed mini-review
of the exhibitions that most intrigue me and call that
writing "Best Picks".

This sculpture is hugely
popular. It has been loaned for various
museum exhibitions including the very large
multi-year touring show "El Corazon Sangrante"
organized by the ICA Boston. Some may
debate - but this is perhaps David Avalos' most
compelling "hubcap milagro". It deals with
the realities of Indian gaming in eastern
